Now looking at these dates it is obvious MTV did not create the S thing. As we wrote about in our Sacred Reich and Styx blogs, Heavy Metal had a hug influence in the S block writing style. Bands like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Judas Priest and Styx and more all used similar hard edge writing styles that was growing increasingly popular in the early 80's and beyond. The Headbangers Ball Logo was created by Eric Haze (HAZE) and we have reached out for comment.
